Ben's Wish

Ben & David Ben's Family writes:

Dear Make A Wish,

We wanted to thank your staff for organizing a wonderful, memorable day for our family last Saturday. The day could not have been a better one for our family, and Ben's wish to meet David Cook was granted in such an amazing way.

We do not know how to contact whomever was responsible on his end, nor David himself, so if there is any way for you to pass along a HUGE thank you to them for us we would greatly appreciate it. It would have been so easy for David/his crew to do much less and spend much less time with Ben on Saturday. They chose to really make it a great day for him, instead, and we were heart warmed by the enormous smile on Ben's face. David Cook could not have been more engaging, polite and wonderful to all of us. He is a class act, as is his entire crew/band. We look forward to watching their success grow as they are all so talented, gracious and deserving of it.

Also, we want to extend a thank you to all the people involved in our day, we had a wonderful time and know that the day would not have been the same had everyone not been a part of it. Lynn assisted us and she was a pleasure to be around and navigated the day perfectly.

Ben & David When you are on the "outside looking in," you often hear about your organization and the wishes that you fulfill. You see the spark in the childrens' eyes in advertisements and never, for a minute, do you think that the face will one day be your own child's. Although not the conditions under which we would have ever thought that we would be a part of Make-A-Wish, we can not be more appreciative and thankful for your organization and what it did to foster a wonderful experience for Ben. Not only did he look forward to it for months, but he has built memories that he continues to relive with others.

It was six months ago today that Ben was diagnosed with AML and began this journey. Listening to live music, particularly good live music, last week was a wonderful way for all three of us to exhale for the first time in a long time. Today, I am happy to say that Ben just finished his 98th and hopefully last dose ever of chemo last week. Our prayers for no future evidence of disease have now begun!

If there is anything that we can do to help you and/or Make-A-Wish in the future, please do not hesitate to call. We would gladly give back in a heartbeat. Thank you, both, again for your dedication in fulfilling Ben's wish. Attached are a few (okay, bunch!) of photos from the day. I think they speak for themselves. It has been great getting to know both of you, if even only over the phone.

Best wishes.
