Carly's Wish

Carly & family meet The Wiggles Carly's Mom writes:

I wanted to write you to thank you for everything you did in arranging Carly's wish. I also wanted to share some of the exciting details of Carly's wish with you.

In our house, meeting The Wiggles is a big deal, a HUGE deal! All of our children have been Wiggles fans for years but by far, Carly, our youngest child, is the biggest Wiggles fan of all. Carly requests to wear a Wiggles shirt everyday and it is her favorite TV show.

Carly suffers from a genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis (NF) and has several tumors in her brain and body as a result. Recently, Carly started a yearlong treatment of chemotherapy. The Chemo has been very hard on her.

When volunteers, Diana and Gary came to see Carly with a giant box full of Wiggles merchandise and told her that she was going to meet the Wiggles in person, she was absolutely giddy!

On stage A short time later there was another knock at our door. When we opened it, The Wiggles dog, Wags stood there with a special invitation for Carly to come to a Wiggles show and meet the band.

Carly's Wish Day!!! Carly was ready to go when the limo arrived and she couldn't wait to get in. The kids loved the limo ride and it really made everyone feel special. Upon arriving at the show we were greeted by Alison, a Make-A-Wish volunteer and our escort for the show. We were to meet The Wiggles shortly.

When the Wiggles arrived, the expression on Carly's face was priceless! For the first minute or so, she stood as still as a statue, just watching them, in total amazement. Anthony came right over, knelt down and talked to Carly. Murray and the rest of the cast were right behind him. I was so impressed at how sweet and down-to-earth these stars are.

It was show time, we bid our goodbyes to The Wiggles, "G'day mate" and went to our seats. We had perfect seats for the show. Just a few minutes into the show, Murray spotted us and introduced Carly to the audience. Then came Carly's big moment! Murray asked Carly to come up on stage and help him give a rose to Dorothy (a character on The Wiggles show). Carly was elated and it showed. She was smiling form ear to ear. The Wiggles made sure to wave good bye to Carly at the end of the show.

Carly at dinner After the show, we all enjoyed a great dinner. It was so nice to see Carly enjoy a full meal again. She slept most of the way home. Later, we had a cake, lit candles and sang "Happy Wish Day" to Carly. She loved that.

What Make-A-Wish has given to Carly is something that I could never give her myself. And even I got something special that day...seeing Carly that happy was such a joy! The best part of the day was when Carly turned to me in the limo and said, "Mommy, I so happy".

Thank you to everyone at Make-A-Wish. You have helped to create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime and more importantly, you brought immense happiness into Carly's life at a time when she needed it the most.
