Chas' Wish

Chas had a very unique wish. He wanted to be a contestant on the Who Wants to be a Millionaire show at MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida on his 17th birthday. On August 10, 2002, Chas and his family set out to drive to Florida, as Chas did not want to fly. They stopped at South of the Border and played miniature golf, which was his "side" wish! Then on August 15th, Chas and his family were given the special treatment at MGM studios where the show was to be held. Jeff, one of the show's producers, presented Chas with some autographed pictures of his favorite Disney characters - as a birthday present. Although Chas was not allowed to sit in the hot seat (because he was not 18), he got to play the fastest finger game. He and his family stayed 7 fun-filled, exhausting days at Give Kids The World Village and visited most of the Disney theme parks. Chas came home with many pictures, stories and happy memories.

A Note From Chas:

I want to thank the Make A Wish foundation for granting my wish. My wish was to be at the MGM Studios in Florida and get to sit in the Hot Seat for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on my birthday, August 15th. They couldn't allow that but I got to sit in the fastest finger seat. I got on the leader board four times. There are 650 people in the audience that you go against to get in the Hot Seat.

When we got to Give The Kids World Village, they greeted me with a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. The Village is a great place. I liked where we stayed and the food was good. Everyday there would be a little surprise waiting for me when we would get back from the parks. I got to play games at the Village and ride the Merry-go-round. They took a picture of my family and I with Mickey Mouse and Pluto before we went home. All the people at the Village and parks made me feel very important.

I never thought my wish could come true. When Susan came and interviewed me she told me I would get my wish. This made me very happy and excited. I didn't want to fly because my grandmother had promised me that if we ever went to Florida she would make sure I could play miniature golf at South of the Border which I did going both ways. I want to thank everyone involved for making my wish come true. I will never forget it. It went by to fast and I was sad that I had to leave. I didn't get to do all I wanted to do at the village but it was a great adventure that my whole family and I will never forget. Thank you all very much.
