Hannah's Wish

Hannah & Suzanne Hannah is nine years old, loves the color purple, and can steal your heart with her beautiful smile. When the Make-A-Wish Foundation asked Hannah to make a wish, she knew exactly what to wish for - a piano! We knew that we had to grant her wish, and we knew the best way to grant it - during a surprise party with all of her family and friends.

On the eve of Hannah's wish day she had stayed overnight with her Grandparents, after which she attended her friend's birthday party. As Hannah was absent, we were able to decorate and prepare. As the day progressed, her house filled with people, including several newspaper photographers. The atmosphere was saturated with excitement, anticipation, and love. Nobody could wait for the star of the party to arrive.

Hannah and her mother would be arriving in a gold van, and the crowd gathered outside tensed the moment the van was sighted turning onto the street. Unfortunately, the van turned off onto a side street, and the crowd noticeably relaxed. After two subsequent false alarms, a fourth gold van approached, and as it drove nearer all present realized that this was the one - Hannah was here, and everyone prepared to watch the magic unfold!

Hannah When she exited the car, Hannah was definitely surprised! We asked Hannah if she knew how to use a magic wand, and as she assured us that she did, we gave her a wand and let her handle the rest. She waved her wand in the air while wishing out loud for a piano. Everybody could feel the magic crackling in the air, and it was obvious that Hannah had her own reservoir of magic within. After the wishing was complete, Hannah ran inside to see if the wand had worked, and the crowd followed behind.

As we all peeked through the door, we could see a stunning black piano set against the wall of her living room, accented with purple flowers and purple candles in a candelabra! The bench was adorned with a lovely handmade purple cushion detailed with purple lace and rhinestones! The next few moments were a blur as Hannah rocketed into the room, jumped onto the bench, and then sprinted back outside to fly into the arms of her mother with happy tears in her eyes.

Everybody began to celebrate, and a family friend broke the piano in while supplying the party with a little music! Hannah bounced from lap to lap and received a few more surprises including a backpack, music books, and a very special piano-decorated cake. Hannah is also receiving six months of piano lessons at a music school nearby. She is passionate and motivated, and we know that her music will be beautiful.
