Yardley Resident, Jim Higgins, Running Goofy marathons this January at Disney World to Benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation
Yardley, PA (November 1, 2006) –Jim Higgins' love of running began in 2000 when at the urging of a friend he participated in Brian's Run, West Chester University's annual charity race. Despite a 700th place finish, Jim continued to train and participate in races for his personal enjoyment.
This coming January, he will run to benefit a local child through Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Philadelphia & Southeastern Pennsylvania and is doing so by asking friends, colleagues, and the community to make contributions to Make-A-Wish. Jim will run a half marathon on Saturday, January 6 and a full marathon on Sunday, January 7 at Disney World.
Jim's interest in helping sick kids began from hospital visits he made with his son Kevin, who suffers from a chronic illness. While at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia he saw the concerned faces of parents with children undergoing treatment for more serious, life-threatening medical conditions and wanted to help bring some joy to these kids and their families.
