Teen Has Wish Fulfilled Going To Final Four

(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA Medical Reporter Stephanie Stahl that for one fan in Delaware County, March Madness and the Final Four has special meaning.

Fourteen-year-old Jake McGovern can't play basketball himself, but he love's it anyway.

McGovern has eagerly followed March Madness rooting for his home team Villanova.

"I really like Kyle Lowery, you know, he hustles a lot, he’s a tiny guy, but he’s tough as nails man and Allen Ray, Allen Ray’s good," he said.

In the family pool, Villanova is a big favorite with McGovern carefully tracking the games.

Now a dream is coming true for McGovern as he's going to Indianapolis for the Final Four.

"Waiting for the day, it’s going to be great," he said.

The trip is a gift from the Make A Wish Foundation, brightening the lives of children with life threatening medical conditions.

"This is just an exciting thing for some kid, you know, for Jake, he needs some excitement in his life," said McGovern’s mom Mimi.

She said that he's brave, but life confined to a wheelchair with an aggressive form of muscular dystrophy is difficult.

"You deal with what you're dealt, so its one of those things, so you just deal with it," she said.

"I really just don't think about it," Jake said.

Instead he concentrates on sports and watching games.

"It’s fun to watch and its exciting and anything can happen," he said.

McGovern never imagined going to the Final Four by making a wish and then having it come true.

"It’s just pretty cool," he said.

Jake's wish is the 2,000th fulfilled by the local chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation.
