Samantha's Wish

		Samantha's mom writes... Samantha made a wish to meet her favorite star, Raven Symone from Disney's That’s So Raven. Make-A-Wish put together a wish that our family will never forget. Samantha and her parents were picked up by stretch limo at our home and driven to New York City, where Raven was to make an appearance to launch her new line of clothing, cosmetics and perfume. After we checked into our hotel and grabbed a quick lunch, we met the other 3 wish families who would be joining us when we met Raven. Our Make-a-Wish volunteer from the New York office met us and walked us to the W Hotel, where we were greeted by Disney representatives.

Samantha and her 3 new friends were taken into a room where makeup artists waited to give them all makeovers. A hair stylist then took over to give each girl a stylish 'do. Then a fashion stylist helped each girl pick out an outfit from the new Raven collection, which she then changed into to complete her new look. Disney and Make-a-Wish had put together a collection of clothing, complete with shoes and accessories, for each wish kid, in her own size. These were packed up, along with a large goodie bag of everything Raven (including music, games, dolls, makeup, perfume and more) for each girl to take home.

Once the girls were done with their makeovers, they posed for photos. Then, the moment they were waiting for arrived as Raven entered the room and spent time with the girls, asking and answering questions, signing autographs and laughing with the girls. After meeting Raven, Samantha and the others were interviewed by Monica, the host of Disney 4-1-1. Disney took lots of photos (they sent each family an entire CD of pictures) and even set up a sundae bar for the girls to enjoy before they joined the media party Raven was hosting in the party room across the hall. The girls danced and partied for the next few hours and left very happy, with their arms loaded down with gifts from Raven. Disney even let us keep the director’s chair with Samantha’s name on the back, which they mailed.

The next day we enjoyed the sights and food of New York and capped it with fabulous seats at the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast, courtesy of Make-A-Wish. After a delicious breakfast and nice walk the next day we headed home in our chauffeur-driven limo, full of stories and excitement from our magical trip.
